Introduction
The House at Hawes is located on a main road within the town of Hawes. The house was built around 1890 and whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests there are some period features that may make access difficult for people with limited mobility. One guest room is located on the ground floor and the rest of our are guest rooms are located on the first floor accessed only via one flight of stairs. Guest rooms are at first floor level and have en-suite shower or ensuite bathrooms. All our guest rooms are at ground and first floor level they are not suitable for wheelchair users.
Pre-Arrival
We are located on the A684 into Hawes, you will encounter hills in all directions. Access to the centre of the town is via the roadway, there are footpaths but at some points these may be uneven.
The nearest shops, pubs and cafés are within easy, but not level, walking distance in the direction of the town. Services at the shops are limited.
Hawes is accessible by train (Garsdale) 6 miles to the west. Trains are met by a regular bus service from Hawes.
Passengers alight at the Dales Countryside Museum which is approximately 300 yards from The House at Hawes.
Taxi services are available from Hawes, Garsdale and throughout the dale.
Regular bus services operate from Hawes to Richmond,
Darlington, Northallerton and Ripon.
Hawes Village Bus operates year-round, connecting local villages.

The House at Hawes is unable to welcome pets of any kind. Assistance dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. A family pet may be on site.
Menus and guest information can be provided in large print if required. We regret we do not have facilities to prepare documents in Braille.

Arrival and Parking Facilities
We are a small bed and breakfast and do not have a 24 hour reception service, for that reason our arrival times are from 3pm – 7pm. Earlier arrival may, however, be possible by arrangement. On the day of departure rooms must be vacated by 10.00am.
There is off road parking for 5 cars on a block paved and gravel drive. We can also accommodate motorbikes and bicycles in this area.
We can offer assistance with luggage of a reasonable size and weight if required.
The path to the front door entrance is gravelled.
There are two steps to the front door and a hand rail is available.
The paths are approximately 5 feet wide.
A front door bell is available to request access.

The front entrance has two illuminated stone steps with hand rail.
Aid with luggage is available on request.
Seating is available in the reception area.
Reception is at table level.

Two floors of level flooring.
The floors are joined by two flights of stairs, one of 20 steps and the other of 6 steps.
Floors are a mix of floorboards and carpet.
The hallway and landing are approximately 8 feet wide.

Large room with good access and wide aisles.
Uniform lighting with additional lamps.
Moveable tables and chairs.
Allergies and special diets are catered for where possible.
Non-smoking throughout the house.
Bedrooms
Rooms are not adapted for wheelchair use.
