We escaped the chores for lunch at The Crown in Hawes today.
Well we did promise to do our best and try as many places as possible for you so we could report back! It’s a glorious hot sunny day here in Wensleydale so it was the perfect day for an alfresco lunch. We sat out at the front of The Crown on the cobbles watching the world go by, Hawes was definitely bustling.
Tim chose a nice cold pint of Moretti and and I opted for a white wine spritzer. The menu is pretty extensive with lunchtime sandwiches which looked very good, sharing platters, pub classics, very large burgers and some smokehouse specials. After changing our minds several times we opted for the full rack of ribs and a Mediterranean platter. The ribs were really soft and melting with a nice BBQ sauce and came with fries, sweetcorn and coleslaw. The platter was equally tasty with hummus, olives, feta, parma ham, dipping oil and bread.
All in all a delicious lunch and a fab setting if you like people watching!
